Have you ever wondered how your flowers get to you? Where have they come from, and how are they grown? Victoria Florists always strives to bring you the freshest and best possible flowers for your bouquets. So, here’s how we do it.
Bright and early
Our flowers take several different routes to get to you, depending on where they are grown and what season it is. Predominantly we source our flowers from growers in Christchurch and Auckland. “Auckland?” I hear you cry. “Do they stay fresh?” Well, the answer is yes. We get up at 5 am three mornings a week to purchase flowers at online auctions. That’s mainly Auckland, but also Christchurch and occasionally other cities.
Flowers on a flight?
Flowers from Auckland are sent with care and speed to arrive in Christchurch in good condition. Flowers are often kept in refrigerated conditions at the airport and flown in cooler parts of the planes. Couriers then deliver them from the airport to Victoria Florists by early afternoon the same day, and that’s when our team of florists gets to work to produce your bouquets. Basically, the less time the flowers spend in transit, the longer you have to enjoy them.
Getting you the best prices
By constantly keeping our eyes on the live auctions and seeing where the best flowers are located, we can give you the best volume and variety of flowers for your bouquet. Buying from Auckland is our way of adapting to our growing business, even in these trying times of Covid.
